puppy safety

our small terrior, KD, is about to give birth to at least six puppies.  we also have a large, sweet, fixed, golden retreiver, maggie.  maggie and KD are best friends but we are afraid maggie might hurt the new puppies.  she has growled and snapped at other puppies that she has met in the past.  what should we do to train maggie not to hurt the puppies???????

Hi Beth, How old is Maggie?  Odds are if she doesn't like puppies, she won't get along with these.  For their safety, you need to keep her away from them as she could hurt them.  It would be impossible to train her to like them if she is feeling jealous or intimidated by them for some reason.  Wish I could be of more help, but in this situation, it is safer for the puppies to keep her away.
