Question
My mom has a 5 year old red nose pit bull. Prpper is the biggest baby that you will ever meet. Well, about a week ago, she has started acting strange. She will get this red look in her eyes and srowl while showing her teeth. The look she has is like "if i could get to you you would be dead!" I have looked at other sites and they say that Rage syndrome is not reported in pits, but i dont know what else it could be! She is my moms dog and now she does it to her too. My mom now had to feed her by grabing her food bowl with the rake and then pushing it over to her. Pepper is not abused, the only dog in the yard, and a family pet! Is this rage syndrome???? Please let me know..... Moketta@yahoo.com

Answer
Hi Misty,  It is hard to say if this could be a case of Rage syndrome, but it definitely is something wrong.  It sounds like something might have snapped in her, mentally.  Your mother really needs to get her evaluated by a professional canine behavior specialist who specializes in aggression problems.  You need someone to come to your home and evaluate her in her own setting so they can see things in her natural environment.  There is no way for anyone to be able to tell what the problem is without actually seeing her and her behavior.  Wish I could be of more help, but with aggression, you really have to be thorough in what you do.
