Question
Hello I don't know if you can help me, I know it is an odd question but I hope you can help as I would like to have an idea of how big my puppy will be when he is full grown,
as pitbulls vary in weight so much these days and I do not know the breeding lines.

thanks - Max

Answer
Hi Max,

You are correct, this breed does vary in size and weight. It's impossible to guess what size your dog would be, if you do not know his linage (which isn't a guarantee, but rather a potential). Some say that whatever the puppy weighs at 14 weeks, double that to get what it will weigh when fully grown.

Assuming your dog is an American Pit Bull terrier, and not a American Staffordshire Terrier (which is also called a "Pit Bull"), the desirable weight for a mature male in good condition is between 35 and 60 pounds.

If your dog is a Staffordshire, you can expect him to weigh between 57-67 pounds.

Best of luck,
Patti
