Nail clipping, when the dog doesnt like it.

Question
I used to work in a pet store, and had to clip the nails of the puppies, but now I'm having a problem doing it on my 2 yr old dog.  He is huge (last vet appt. weighed about 140lbs), and he just doesn't like it when you clipp his nails.  He sometimes growls, but has never tried to bite or anything.  The hardest part is even when trying to go quickly he wants to get up and run away, and keeping a dog this big in one spot feels practically impossible.

Any tips.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Christina,

Yes, try a grinder. Some dogs will not tolerate a nail clipper, but will be fine with a grinder.  If that does not work, try small treats or a cup of frozen peanut butter.  This helps keep their mind off of what you are doing.

Hope this helps you.
