black Lab ear lobe swollen

Question
My 13 year old rescued black Lab has a swollen right ear lobe.  This is day two. I cannot see where he may have been bitten, it feels heavy and full and warm. He does not appear to be in pain.  I have rubbed neosporin on it and gave him benadril. Any suggestions on remedy other than vet and lancing? We live in Cocoa Beach, FL and I just fought and finally won battle of the fleas. I gave him capstar and advantage. Prior to that he was breathing heavy and I gave him a natural calming remedy, cammomile is main ingredient. (I have had my dog for 12 years, first time ear trouble.)Thanks.

Answer
I don't know anything more that will help, and doubt it will go away on its own.  As long as he doesn't seem uncomfortable, you could let it go a little and see.  If it suddenly turns painful over the weekend, you could give him a buffered aspirin, one regular 325 mg tablet every 8 hours.  Aspirin, not any of the newer OTC painkillers.
