Midday feed?

Question
I just found out when we picked up our puppy 2 days ago from the breeder that he needs 3 small meals a day (large breed).  This might have been a deal breaker for us, had we not already fallen in love with his pictures the breeder emailed.  We have no idea how to cope with a noontime feed 3 days a week.  We've got the other 4 days covered. We are home during the day for 4 days a week, it's the other 3 that we are gone for 9 hours. Could it be that most working professionals just should not try to raise a puppy?  Would a dog walker 3 days a week be a good solution?  I'm concerned about theft and my liability should the puppy walker get injured, because I have a pool.  (The puppy will be crated during the day indoors, away from the pool, of course).  I'm almost hysterical thinking we'll have to give this puppy back.
Other ideas not dependent on a petsitter: ON these 3 days a week, could we try two feeds instead, or a 9am, 6pm, Midnight feeding schedule?  Or 5am, 8am, 5pm?

Answer
Hello Amy and thank you for your question,

Working people can have dogs don't fret! I work four days a week but shorter hours then yourself, maybe 8 hours on the one longer day of the four but ussally I'm home 5 hours after i leave. I leave my current puppy(female boston terreir) in a puppy pen for this time with newspapers to potty on her bed/toys/water dish and I leave her a dish of food, she eats shedualed meals when i have the day off but for the days I work I'd rather have er eat something when I'm away then be really hungray until I get back. Itys just me others would frown on this but I've done this with all my dogs when they were puppies. A dog walker would be great, if they can come get him and take him for a nice long walk when your at work if its affordible go for it. Prewarning the person you have a large pool is a good idea as is telling them not to allow the dog back there would pervent problems as well.

Good luck with your new puppy, you forget to mention what breed he was I'd love to know, anything else I can help you with feel free to ask.
