Question
Please help me as my heart is absolutely breaking.  I am the owner of two male BT.  Bruiser is the oldest who is 6 and I have had him since he was 8 wks old.  During the time I have had him, he has been the love of my life and spoiled does not even begin to describe him.  This summer, my friends found another BT on the side of the road who was almost dead from dehydration, malnutrition, eye problems, ticks, fleas...you name it.  I picked him up and took him to the vet and believe it or not, he just looked worse than what he was.  I named this BT "lucky" because he is so very lucky to be alive.  He is now in excellent health, well fed, loved and happy in our home.

Now for my issue.  In the last couple of weeks, Bruiser and Lucky have been into some very horrific fights.  My nerves are so shot and I am so heartbroken because I love them both with all my heart and just want them to coexist.  I took Bruiser to the vet and he put Bru on some sedative medication.  I am not in favor of the way it is affecting Bru.  Is there a way to help us through this tough period without medication?  Again, I love them so much and getting rid of one of them is not an option.  Any advice would be so greatly appreciated as this is breaking my heart.

I am unsure of Lucky's age (probably 2-3) Bruiser is 6.  Neither have been neutered, and the vet feels that their behavior will not change if they are neutered. (Which I am still going to do regardless.)

Any words of wisdom will be so greatly appreciated!!

Answer
Neauturing often does help reduce fighting,I have seen it from experience so I feel that getting them done is a good idea anyways

Also another thing that really fixes this problem is to muzzle both dogs, and then let them sort things out, they figure out who is alpha without hurting each other, and one this is sorted the fights will stop-I too have done this with MANY dogs and in all cases the dogs would at least tolerate each other, even if they didn't become friends, wich in many cases they did

There are muzzles for short faced dogs, you just often have to ask petstore staff(I have used them on two pugs before)
