Question
I've a 11 year old German Shephard called Punch. He is slightly overweight and has had problem with his hind legs from a few months now in terms of them shaking and are very weak. His state is bad now as his Hind legs have no reflex and he hasnt moved from the past 2.5 weeks. He just sits up or lies down.He cannot walk. His vet has prescribed some steroid shots every 3 days but hasnt given any guarantee. He was on medication earlier for this but as that didnt work ,the doctor prescribed the steroids. What do you suggest? Do you think he'll be able to walk again?

Answer
Hi Soumya,

You didn't say what condition your dog was diagnosed with, but I can't give you a different prognosis than whatever your vet has discussed you.

There is a safe method of restoring much of your dog's mobility that doesn't involve any drugs. Dog "wheel chairs", or carts have helped many dogs that have lost the use of their rear legs, but are in good health otherwise.
Dogs respond very well to using these carts, and seem genuinely happy to be able to move around again.

These carts can be bought new or used, rented, and even made at home, if you're handy.
