my bitchs behaviour after having her first litter

Question
yes she was taken to vets within 4 hours of her giving birth, and all is ok with her. we have had her confined to one area, its just when she wants out for a break with us, that she starts this behaviour. but if its natural then thats fine, we just keep a close eye on her and not leave her unattended when out in the house and garden. thanks very much for your quick response and advice.

-----Question-----
my bitch had her first litter 5th feb, they are a week old, doing well and the bitch is looking after them well, except for a compulsive need to constantly move the pups if a door is left open or she is left unattended with them, she has had them under the shed, behind the sofa, in the kitchen. Is this an anxiety thing or natural behaviour? we have to constantly check they are in bed and theres none missing. is there anything we can do to limitate her doing this?

did you take her to the vet when she was done and have them give her a shot to reduce the uterus?   Sometimes the reduction of the uterus gives them contractions and they think they are still having pups.  Did you make sure she had no more pups in her also?
anyway, they will then search for new nests and of course take their babies with them.  I would have her checked if you haven't already.  And if you have then I will confine her to one gated area.  She could injure the pups with all this carrying around.

Answer
Ahhhh you tell me that,
My female dog was so attached to me and was used to sleeping with me.  When she had her pups I put her in a box in the dark corner of my room thinking she would feel safe there.  Every time I turned around she was moving back to my side of the bed,  She did it until I realized she wanted to be with me, but wouldn't leave the babies.  Isn't that soo neat that she loved me so much..... and your female does too.
