pain meds for dogs

i have a pit bull about 5 yrs old he is alittle over weight but anyway i thinks when it snowed here wed he slipped on the steps & hurt his leg he is limping now his back right leg its not swollen & he lets me touch it but can you tell me what pain meds I can give him till i can get him to a vet monday he has never been hut before & i dont want to give him the wrong med i am a pharmacy tech so i can get the meds is lidine allright for him thanks alot

Hey Heidi. Please DO NOT give him any medications from a human pharmacy! The dosages are very different & can cause some pretty serious reactions. Bring him to the vet as soon as you can, but in the meantime you can give aspirin. Just plain aspirin. He can have 1-2 twice a day. That will help him through the weekend. Thanks!
