Question
I HAVE HEARD AND SEE CRATE TRAINING IS BAD BECAUSE ONCE THEY ARE 1YR OLD. AS SOON AS YOU  OPEN CRATE THE DOG WILL BOLT TO WHERE IT WANTS.EVEN IF YOU HAVE TRAINED IT NOT TO.
ALSO WHEN ITS OUT IT WILL CHEW MORE THINGS UP THAN NORMALLY.WHATS UP WITH THAT? IS THERE SOME TIPS ON THIS MATTER.

Answer
Hi,
Crate training is only for times you are not around the dog.  A puppy of 8 weeks needs to go out every 2 hours, 3 months every 4 hours etc.  If you over extend this time the puppy learns to go in the crate.  If you only keep your dog in a crate without letting him out, he will indeed, bolt.  You must take him for long walks and train him and bond with him.  He must have plenty of exercise to counteract the crate confinement.
