hair loss on snout

My dog "Cindy", 4 years old mixed breed rescued from being cast aside. Cindy ears Iams  weight control formula. Mostly inside dog, but goes out generally when I do. Lately her snout is losing hair from the nose up to a point about 3/4 the length of her nose. The underlying skin is dark. I have not been able to notice her pawing at the nose or any behavior suggesting a mechanical component. Everything else seems to be in order. Suggestions?

That is strange, Larry. I would have a vet check her out just to be sure it isn't mange or some other health issue. Do you crate or kennel her at all? Could she be rubbing her muzzle on something when you're not at home? Is the area where there is hair loss irritated at all?
