viral warts on a dogs body

Question
I read about the following homeopathic remedies for viral warts on a dog's body. I'm looking at (Boiron brand) thuja occidentalis pellets (80 per tube) that were mentioned in an internet question regarding dog wart cures, but I need to know the dosage.  The article I read said to give one thuja pellet & then wait for a change in about 2 weeks; then repeat this dosage. I notice at the  www.abchomeopathy.com site they offer 6c in the (Boiron brand) thuja pellets.  Is that the right dosage for a 55# dog. (My vet said they were viral warts).  Thank you in advance for your answer!

Answer
Hi Nellie,

In most cases of canine viral warts (also known as Viral Papillomas) treatment is unnecessary, you simply can allow the growths to go away on their own, this is especially true of oral papillomas. It can take anywhere from a few weeks to two months for the warts to fade away. That's about the same time frame that the Thuja pellets you were reading about are supposed to work. Maybe just see if the warts will run their course on their own.

There are conditions that resemble papillomas. The most common one is sebaceous adenomas. If the growths don't go away on their own after about two months, if it were my dog, I'd have the growths biopsied.

I'm not familiar with using Thuja Occidentalis (white cedar) in treating canine viral warts. I know that it's used for skin complaints including warts in humans, but canine viral warts are not the same as the ones that humans can get. Maybe contact the manufacturer for correct dosing recommendations.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Best of luck,

Patti
