Question

Red Nodule on eye I have recently acquired a 2 yr. old basset hound from a friend of my husband. When I received him he has a red nodule on his right eye, but is not draining any pus, does not look infected or does not seem bothersome to him in any way. Do I need to have it checked by a vet or do I need to just leave it alone and it is something that will go away on it's own? I have not taken him to the vet yet, since the previous owner gave me his the dogs papers and medical records that states his shots and everything are up to date. Please contact me ASAP!! I want him to be in the best of health and take very good care of him!!

I would most certainly have your vet look at it, whether it seems to bother him or not.

Dogs are masters at concealing their pain - their genetic make-up tells them if a dog is in pain, he is in a weakened condition and likely to be the target of other dogs attempting to dominate him or surpass him in pack status.
