Question
Hello from sunny Durban, South Africa.  To be brief I own and run a largish kennels and have groomed dogs and taught 'pet' grooming for many years.  Over the years we have become increasing involved in Dog Shows and of course the grooming of 'Show Dogs'.  My question is this; Giant Schnauzers - I have groomed and presented young dogs that have gone on to win their classes - but I would dearly love to see an outline of what a proper show Giant turned out for a class, should actually look like.  I have searched the web to try and find an outline with no success, black dogs are hard to see the actual lines on where to shave properly, any suggestions  Thank you.

Answer
Greetings back to you!
I love the Giants and had a client for many years who had Giants. Unfortunately I am too old to do the big dogs any more so i haven't seen a pet in a long time.
One of the top handlers in the world of Giants is Gabriel Rangel.

He has the hands of a concert violinist- his scissoring and hand stripping are works of art. His main client is a Giant breeder. Look up his winnings and you may find pictures.

I use to have a great illustration book of how to hand strip the G.S. but I can't find it. It must be available from one of the clubs here. Google the GS club and find out when they are having a specialty- ask them for a pattern book.

They are extremely difficult to pull in the long coats. You really have to keep after them. Hope you get a response from someone- the pattern is very terrier like as you  know but not having any idea what yours look like it would be difficult to critique.

good luck
