Grooming blade types

Question
I read that high number blades are good for a closer cut around the face and backside and low number blades are for longer-haired areas.  How high of a blade would you recommend for trimming around the face and how low of a blade would you recommend for trimming around the ears and legs?

Answer
Hi Jared,
All of this is relative to your experience. Pros can use #30,40, 50 blades to clean face feet and tails but if you have no experience this can be a disaster and can burn or cut the skin.
Until you have plenty of experience stick with a #10 and at the most a #15. Be careful of clipper burn and either change blades frequently or use a coolant on the blades.
I don't know what you mean for trimming around the ears... tips or whole ears? Scotties? Westies? Yorkies?  Start with a #10. Legs; is that curly coats or straight hair? Different breeds require different lengths. Scissored or clippered you have to know the pattern before you can decide and then again the clients wishes are ultimately the goal. Snap on guards over a 15 or #3 skip-tooth give longer more natural looks.
hope that helps answer you questions.
