Dog diet

Question
Hi I have two small toy poodles (about 10lbs) and about 9 years old. Would it be alright to give dogs chlorophyll in liquid form as a supplement? Also, my dog eats cat food (dry), would that have any bad effects on them? They refuse to eat large pieces of dog food maybe because they are old and used to soft food or had gotten bored of the taste, could you recommend me a good brand to give them? I have tried caesar's for small dogs but they do not like it. My other dog also gets diarrhea, do you suppose its from eating rice, or cat food? They also tend to puke when they are given canned food. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello,
I can guarantee you that your dogs have a bad odor because of diet. I would never add chlorophyll as a first choice. My first choice would be to address their diets. You are obviously using commercial animal foods and therein is the main reason for the smells. Dogs should NOT eat cat food either..this could be causing bad smells. Your dogs need a better diet--period and it's not going to come from commercial dog foods. Little Cesar is one of the worst on the market to boot.Of course, they puke on canned food..they are telling you that it is riddled with synthetics and their bodies are rejecting this.

Raw is best. Short of this, buy and ORGANIC meat product and feed raw. Nature's Variety comes to mind..it's what I use. I will NOT feed my dogs the sawdust that commercial kibble is made of nor the canned foods whose first five ingredients are usually not even meat. Please read up on how to read dog food labels and go from there. If you must buy commercial then at least buy a very high quality commercial food(if there is even such a thing). If your dogs are puking buy hormone free, antibiotic free boneless, skinless chicken breasts and lightly steam them. If you do this you need to supplement with REAL FOOD SUPPLEMENTS (not something you buy in a supermarket or pet store) so they get their vitamines and nutrients. Chlorophyll is just trying to mask the problem and I wouldn't do it. PLEASE GET THEM ALL ON A SYNTHETIC FREE, HOPEFULLY ORGANIC DIET OF MEATS, VEGGIES, FRUITS AND SUPPLEMENTS. Please read up on this or ask mme for more info. The problems you are having are CAUSED BY THEIR DIETS and just adding cholorophyll will probably worsen the situation. Good Luck.
