Question
My dog is 5 years old, a 45lb very healthy mutt (probably with some pitt and rhodesian ridgeback and who knows what else).  She was given a kidney panel approx. 3 years ago that resulted in slightly abnormally high ranges.  She is on medicine for incontinence (and has been for most of her life) that she takes once a week.  She started eating K/D when we got the first kidney diagnosis and since then her panels have improved and she is now in the normal range -- implying that her diet is working.
However, I was informed by a third party (and then again through internet research) that it may not be completely healthy to have her on K/D long term.  I am afraid my vet might have bias in this regard because we buy her food from their hospital (as it's the only carrier).  I am also very interested in cooking her food if I can find an appropriate and all inclusive supplement to use (I tried cooking for her by recipes with individual nutritional ingredients and it took forever!).  Any ideas?  Thoughts?

Thank you!

Hi - I would love to help... Did you try any of the home cooking options or the SoJo?
Please give me an up-date on your mutt kid?

Hi Meg - I have many recipes for dogs with kidney troubles.
For your gal, we do have a great mix called SoJo's ... This is a mix and you add the lightly cooked meats.
I refer all my Kidney clients to the GREEN bag which is the GRAIN free feeding.  ( the key is moisture and LOW to NO grains....)

SEE here:
http://www.sojos.com/index.aspx?affiliate=petnurse
( FREE shipping for all USA homes)

SoJo is sold in many pet stores all over the world.
No junk in this food - Quality and fresh.

Also, you can go with just 1/2 of the NuVET powder per day - I would mix 1/2 a teaspoon of the NuVET powder into the SoJo just 1 x per day...
NuVET is Holistic and not sold in any pet stores:
see here:
http://www.nuvet.com/81098
NuVET helps to heal and keeps the VET away...
Tell them pet nurse Marie only wants your dog on 1/2 the regular dosage per day... This is not a drug / a vitamin supplement.
Use order code 81098

YOU are right about the Hill's K/D - too much junk corns and fillers makes them fat and unhealthy.  "Grain free" is the way to go...

Keep me posted.
