QuestionIhave an 8 yr old Llasa Apso named Jack. We adopted him from a city pound back in October. We are having trouble getting him to eat his food, loves his treats but becomes quite adimant when it comes to eating his real food.
I tried a can of wet in the morning with dry at night, and he would not eat the dry. I then tried mixing for a while which seemed to work then he refused.
While I was away for a week my Dad fed him stricktly wet and he seemed to do well, but my concern was when I got back he had very loose bowl, not solid. I am now trying to get him back to eating some dry as I thouht this may be the reason and now he is refusing to eat?
Any thoughts or suggestions with Jack and his behavor on eating would be appreciated
AnswerHi Joanne: Jack is 8 yrs old..... he can eat the wet food it he likes... I understand your concern on the wet vs dry foods.
How about a good quality wet food such as:
Innova evo ( canned) ( This food has no fillers in it - 99 % meat)
Also, with Innova you feed less than the other brands with " fillers".
To get his poops more condensed you can also offer some metamucil wafers ( 1/2 a cookie per day). I bet he will eat the apple flavored wafer. This will make the poops much more solid. I know it sounds strange, but it works!
There are other good canned foods on the market, too.
Wellness Formula
Solid Gold
Canadide
Natural Balance
I hope this has helped!
Also, consider NuVET Plus - A great vitamin/ supplement for all ages and stages of life. Treat wafers are chicken flavored....
