Eating & bowel movements

Question
Hello,

I recently took over the care of a friends German Shepard/Retriever mix.  She is 17 months old.  I have had her for 2 days now & she hasn't had a bowel movement.  I'm thinking that this may be due to the change in diet, but I thought I would check with someone with some knowledge :)  She was eating Ol' Roy, full bowl left out daily, with her previous owner & I feed her 1 1/2 c. of Canidae, twice a day. Urination is not a problem, so it's not like she's nervous or anything.  Thanks for any help!

Answer
Shepherds can be a bit picky about where they have their bowel movements.  They like to use the same old place and may hold it a long time until they get home and can use the ''right'' spot.  In the morning, take her for a walk.  Just keep going unless she stops to sniff around.  It is hard to hold it and walk too.  If she eventually has a bowel movement, praise her.  She should eventually accept not being able to use her old spot.
