QuestionI have had my dwarf rabbit for 9 years - he is litter trained and runs around the house on weekends and holidays when he's not in my classroom. We had a Sheltie (sadly, she passed) and they got along OK, but now my husband has fallen in love with a 2 year old Border Terrier and wants to bring him home. I said he would probably kill the rabbit, as terriers were bred for hunting small animals. Is there any chance they could coexist? Thanks very much!

The good news - There's no way to tell offhand how a specific dog is going to react to the rabbit without testing them in your home for a few days
The bad news - You're right - borders, and all the other terriers were bred to catch and kill vermin and other varmints that farmers might not like. They do tend to have VERY strong prey instinct. I spend quite a bit of time surrounded by border terriers when we attend earthdog events, and since they excell at that sport, I suspect they would be bad with rabbits.
Sorry
