Jack Russell vs. Bacon Grease

Question
I have a 5 yrs old Jack that we rescued about 3 years ago.  She was raise in a kennel and had several litters of pups.  Our first thing we did with her was get her fixed.  We had her shots updated as we didn't have a history on her.  But last night she got into the trash that I forgot to pick up.  Normally she sleeps thru the night in our bed but she go up last night and went thru that trash.  I had a can of bacon grease that was yesterdays breakfast and I think she ate about 2 cups of it.  Now she is getting sick all over the place.  Should I call the emergency vet or just treat her with a home remedied.  She is part of our family and might even add one of her last pups to the family.  I am worried about her. Please help

I'm so sorry your girlie has made herself sick.. but I had to chuckle since it's such a terrier thing for her to have done.  Mine would have done exactly the same thing.  Connor likes getting into everything that is not on top of the fridge.

My caveat - I am not a vet and these comments are just from my experience

Anyway - I would expect that she has a terrible case of the runs ??  and perhaps is even vomiting some ?

OK the important thing here is that she stay hydrated.  This is something she will be able to pass through her system without any long term effect assuming she is otherwise healthy.  The main concern would be her pancreas, liver and kidneys.... but those are usually not affected if she gets plenty of fluids.

You do not want to turn off her having the runs.  It's the fastest way to get it out of her so she can start recuperating.

I would call the vet if it continues for more than another hour or 2... by then she should have cleansed her system, and is likely to be very sleepy....
