QuestionQUESTION: My four month old cairn terrier is eating way to fast. I'm feeding him three times a day, and it seems like he's eating the entire 1/4 - 1/5 of a cup in about 30 seconds. Afterwards, it seems like he's hiccuping a lot.. how can i stop this?

ANSWER: Jeff
That's a pretty common problem.
They do make dishes that have bumps in them, but I just use tennis balls or big rocks. They have to slow down enough since they're picking around the objects in their dish.

QUESTION: Thanks! One more question... do you usually walk your dogs during the winter much? Do cairns really care about colder weather (like mid 50s etc) or rain? thanks!
AnswerJeff -
I couldn;t help but crack up ! Cairns generally do not like to get their feet wet, so rain is not a favorite weather condition.
On the other hand, many of them enjoy snow for a little while.
Also the concept of the 50's being winter weather ! I live in the Catskills of New York and winter is a much more dramatic event than you describe. I love to watch a cairn go bounding through snow that's a foot deep !
I think you are going to have a wonderful time with the kiddo.
