Question
Hello Patt. I am writing from Grande Prairie, Alberta Canada. My wired haired fox terrier is 7 years old. He is a great dog. The only problem has been that he urinates and defecates in the house. Not all the time, mind you, but just often enought to be annoying. How can I decrease these events?

Answer
Hi Valerie
Clean all areas immediately with citrus orange cleaner.  If you can catch him, scold him and shame him.  If you have a crate, put him in at night, during the day gait off a room so he is only in one to do this to try and stop it.  Lay papers at the door you would exit.  Get a baby gate of sorts for this gaiting off.
Make sure he has no worms, nor a bladder infection, if he is healthy and doing this for spite, then do as above.  Make sure he is getting plenty of exercise daily and lots of attention.  Dogs will do anything for attention it seems.
The Terriers do require some work they have so much energy and demand attention, he could be doing this purely for this reason.  Show him he must stop by putting him in one room or a crate at night to control.

Kind Regards
Patt
