Question
I have a 6 year old rat terrier that we are having problems with.  She is peeing and pooping all over the house.  We will take her out 2-3 times in the middle of the night and she will still have peed or pooped by the time we wake up.  We have tried to discipline her, but to no avail.  I have tried to crate her, but she will not go in the crate- again we pick her up to put her in the crate and she pees all over.  We have given her a Kong with peanut butter in it and still can't get her in there.  Last night I tried to do it and she peed all over the bed and bit my husband when he tried to get her off of the bed and into the crate.
I don't know what to do anymore.  I have gone back to work full time and have a 3 year old daughter.  I hate to bring her to a humane society, but I don't know what else there is to do.
Any suggestions

Answer
This dog sounds like she has YOU trained. You should get a trainer to come to the house and do one on one training.

Crating is the best way to solve this problem and you back off when she refuses to go in the crate.  You have to have the upper hand on this one.  You wouldn't leave your daughter to roam around at night so why is the dog allowed?

Get that trainer.........soon!
