Shitzu/Maltese mix change in behaviour

Question
We have a 2 year old Shitzu/Maltese mix complete male dog who until the last
month has exibited no behaviour issues. He has been staying with friends due to
housing circumstances who have allowed him on furniture and babied him (none
of which he was allowed to do at home) now he is back with us he has become
snappy at other people and growls. Can you suggest how we can get back the
obedient happy dog we used to have please

Answer
First off you need to neuter your male mixed breed dog.  There is no reason to have him complete. Get him done asap. He may have a rush of hormones going on. Nautering will help.

Just be consistant and don't back off he snaps at you.  Grab him up and tell him NO!!!!  Put a leash on him while in the house.  When he does something that he KNOWS he is not to then take him by the lead and say NO!  He will soon get the picture that he is HOME and you are not going to take it.

Sounds to me like he was allowed to snap at the foster home.  They didn't know how to handle it so if you allow it the problem will just get worse.  Then you become the submissive dog to him.  That is no way to live.  Be the Alpha dog and put him in his place.

Good luck and SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS
