Jack Russell-lifting back leg

Question
The Jack Russell I look after often raises her back leg when walking and just uses the other three, she appears to have nothing wrong and definitly is not in pain. I have been told this is a breed characteristic.  Do you know anything about this quirk?

Answer
Hi Susan,
The JR's are little stinkers at finding ways to annoy and amuze themselves.
It can become a habit like chewing out nails, as a kid I used to see dogs running along then hike a leg up and go on 3 of them.  It amuzed me highly, but never thought much about it then nor now in fact.
I think it just becomes another thing to do differently. If anything were wrong, the dog would not eat, lay around, favor the leg all the time, so I would truly not worry too much, just keep an eye if it should get worse, the a vet call might be necessary much as I hate sending u to one.

Kind Regards
Patt
