Toy Fox Terrier - breeding

Question
I have a toy fox terrier - female. She's just shy of 8 months old and is having her first cycle. I know absolutely zilch about a dog's cycle. I haven't had her fixed because I'm unsure about breeding her. Can you tell me how long the cycle lasts, how often the cycle comes, is there a lot of blood (more than the few droplets I've seen) and is there anything I should do for her?

Answer
MOst of the time a heat can last a week or two, but she can stand for up to three weeks, meaning even though she is no longer bleeding, she can still get pregnant. Usually its enough blood to cause messes around the house, so getting her a pad is a good idea. you can buy them at your pet store with a cute little diaper looking thing. and youd only need to change it once or twice a day depending on how heavy her flow is. there really isnt anything you can do for her except to keep her hydrated, and let her be! she will be irritable. but fallow her needs as she demands them... she will be sure to let you know!
