Question
We have a 4 month old puppy.  She is chewing her skin raw in her underbelly.  Why is she doing this and how can we stop her.  Also, is there anything to treat the red skin?  Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Cathy
You can bath her in an oatmeal shampoo and conditioner.  It is soothing, also put some itch cream over the counter on her.

You might want to think about changing dog food?  Also, go to my site on litters, click down on springtimeinc.com and get her some Fresh Factors and Bug Off for fleas and ticks.
I feel we are putting too much chemicals into our dogs, this will eliminate flea vials into her.  I also think  yearly shots are causing more harm than good.  Once a year old and all puppy shots are given, Keep the dog away from alot of dogs and forget the yearly boosters.  Just a Rabi.

Make sure no fleas are present on her.  Check at the tail base for any black specks, get a flea comb and run through her, if any dirt, that is flea poop and she is full of fleas for now.  Get the Bug Off as soon as u can and give her two a day.  They are chewables.  Now, Your going to have to bath her in a flea shampoo to rid and a dip to kill them.  Lood for ticks also.  They will suck the blood and kill a pup.

If not fleas, then change to a top of the line dog food like Pro Plan, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Iams, etc.  Wet with hot water, let set 15 seconds the food morning and late afternoon.  Do not let dog food set for a dog to eat all day at, it is better to have a schedule.

Kind Regards
