Question
If a pit bull attack occurs, it is all over the news and whatever. Obviously other breeds attack but no one ever hears about them. Why do you think this is? I own a pit and she is not exactly an angel but, I could not see her attacking a person, is it possible she would?

Answer
Hi Byron,
Yes what u are saying is true and its sad that it is that way ... in the 1940's and up to the 70's a pit bull was regarded as the best family pet around. Now u must also understand that pit bulls was bred for bull baiting and only the best stock was used to breed with and any pit that so much as growled at people was immediately put down so what the breeders was after was a dog that was dog aggresive and NOT people aggresive. Pit bulls became very popular and breeders could not cope with the demand and this is where the problem started .... u got 'back yard' breeders that started breeding pit bulls not taking into consideration the temprament of the animal as long as they could sell them and get money for them, so today we end up with pit bulls that is mixed breeds and unpredictable and actually a danger to people, far from what the pit bull was originally bred for. As for the media well a story of a pit bull biting someone is always news ... and people now regard pit bulls as vicious animals. funny thing is when i walk with my dog and tell people it is a boxer everyone wants to touch her but the minute i say its a pit bull they grap their kids away lol.

I hope u understand what i have said and if u like u can pop into my site that i have started about pit bulls ... its not a lot yet but i am working on it ... www.pitbull.g2gm.com look around and leave a message if u like !

Have a fab day now and hugs to your pit bull !
