Question - barking Yorkie.
Kerri,
When he continually barks we end up putting him in the bathroom or bedroom until our visitor leaves. I am really worried that the development we are moving to may get complaints and ask us to send our beloved Buddy elsewhere.
What do you think of the vets suggstion on getting a trainor into our new residence, working with us on how to utilized cintrinella collar.
He is too old to be adopted.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Question - my barking yorkie
Hi Kerri,
his pattern. When someone approaches front door he goes into non stop barking and I end up usually having to put him in my bedroom or bathroom.
The same for repairmen etc. (who are acutually afraid of small dogs) I tried apple bitter. Now that we are moving, my vet said to try a cytrenella collar and employing a trainor. What are your thoughts.

Ok that is good to know.  But what do *you* do when he barks and nips?  Do you scold him? act frustrated? Does his barking make you feel anxious? Do you laugh at him 'cause he is a silly little dog?  Or do you ignore the behaviour and remove him to another room?

The Cirtonella collar may work, or it may make him more upset when ppl come.  (dog thinks "when evil people show up in my territory and I try to sound the alarm, something nasty happens!  Those people are REALLY evil!!!)

Answer
Hi

I am sorry without more information on hoe *you* are reacting I can't really help you.  Most of the time it is at least 50-50. I find I need to getthe owners to change thier behaviour as well as the dogs.

I suggest you get a good behaviouralist to observe the situation then implement a program.  This is a fairly easy behaviour to fix.  But unfortunatley I can't diagnose the exact issues over the internet.
