Question
chews anything made of wood.  base doards, furniture, doors.
he has all kinds of chew toys, but still ches the wood

Answer
There are limited options, but here are my suggestions.

1.  See if he is deterred by using bitter apple spray.  Many are, some are not.

2.  Use a crate when you are not able to fully supervise.

3.  Try the treat-based toys like kongs or even a water bottle with a small hole and kibble inside.  Food is often a good distraction.  Additionally the rubbery toys like kongs help with the teething.

To make the kongs etc last longer, you can fill them with peanut butter or spray cheese or whatever, and then freeze them. They last much longer that way.

4.  Use edible toys like greenies, but make sure to buy one size bigger than is recommended in order to help keep the dog from swallowing it lengthwise and being injured.

5.  Use baby gates to isolate a portion of the house where you can supervise.

6. Kong now makes tennis balls that squeak. They are a huge hit at my house and last longer than normal dog balls.

This is likely to pass, but cold also become a very bad habit if you are not able to replace chewing the wood for chewing more appropriate toys.

Think of it as trading up to something better and more appropriate.....

Again, these are just hints.  I would recommend a series of obedience classes to build your relationship and to help you understand what motivates dogs to do what they do.

Good Luck
