Question
my 2 year old cairn terr has suddenly started to wet in the house for no reason he has always been well house trained but we are at our tether no do you think hes marking and why plz help

Answer
Catherine -

I would be unusual for him to start marking all of a sudden.

The best way to tell the difference is whether he is going in the same place over and over and not making all that much pee, or if he's just peeing a whole bunch no matter where he is.

Marking is most often done against vertical surfaces like furniture legs, walls or corners.

If you have any reason to believe it's pee, please get him to a vet right away. There are a number of things that can cause him to have sudden need to pee or not be able to hold it like normal, and you need a vet for that.

Let me know what you think. If it's marking, you may want to read some of my prior answers where I went into those techniques in some detail.

I sure hope he's not sick.
