My new Rat Terrier

Question
Hello,
I adopted a 6 year old Rat Terrier from a shelter.  He only eats once a day so far and sleeps a lot.  I was wondering if this is normal behavior for a newly adopted Terrier?  I realize he may have to settle in and get used to things before having a routine.  Is it bad for him to be sleeping a lot and not eating much?

Thanks,
Amy

A rat terrier is a tiny little dog, so he doesn't need to eat much.... maybe 1/3 cup of dry food a day.....

As for sleeping, it's hard to tell.  It is vital that you get him a vet checkup though, just to make sure there's nothing serious going on health wise.
