My Cairn Smells!!!!

Question
I have quite a quandry. I love my little guy (Pacino) to death. He is a male Cairn about 1&1/2 years old. Training was kind of a pain, but I think he is getting it. Housebreaking is great except when we bring something new into the house lol. He is absolutely wonderful with my children. The only problem I have with him, is he STINKS!!!! It is to the point where I dont even want to let him into the house. I have had to bathe him more than he should be bathed just so I can stand having him around me lol. PLEASE tell me what steps I can take to keeping this little guy smelling good. I appreciate any help you may offer with this situation. THANKS!!!!

That's quite a problem !  I an only think of 1 or maybe 2 things that would make a dog stink that bad.

If he has darkened skin patches, places where the hair is coming out, or his coat feels greasy, or his ears stink, these are signs that he is having an allergic reaction - which results in a yeast infection.

The usual cause for that is food related.  I always encourage people to buy a dog food with no corn in it as corn is the #1 food sensitivity of dogs.  This usually means you will not be able to buy it in the grocery store though.  But just changing his food to soemthing like Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul or Nutro Natural Choice Sensitive Skin will make a HUGE difference.

The other thing might be that it's a poop-ish smell... and again, my best guess is the food.

I usually tell people that improving the dog food, which makes the dog healthier overall, ends up saving money in vet bills and the time to take a dog to the vet, is a good investment.

If you can;t give me more information about what you're feeding him, what kind of smell, etc... I might have some other suggestions.
