Raibies Shots

Question
Hi Autum,
I just got my very first dog.  His name is Buddy and is almost 4 months old.  I was told NOT to put him down while outside until he got his Raibies shots, but when I went to get his shots they gave him a Corona shot and said that he is too young for the Raibies shots.  I want him to interact with other dogs and read that it is important to make them interact before the 12 week mark.  At this rate that is not possible.  He is a Yorkie weighing at 5lbs. (just in case that makes a difference.
Help please.

Thanks a million.

Answer
Aww, just a concerned parent, thats all! You are technically not supposed to let the dogs walk on the streets as puppies just because there is soo much bacteria on cement and black top ect. They tell you that because they want you to be careful. They can walk on the ground and he can go interact with other dogs, just try to keep him on grass like at parks ect. your biggest risk lies in older dogs that have never been vaccinated that come into contact with wild animals, and thus come into contact with your puppy. Your chance of your puppy getting raibies, is very slim. In fact, my one puppy is almost a year old and has yet to get her raibies, and she is fine. So let your puppy be a puppy, you just keep your eye out for any sickly looking dogs, and just wash his feet when you get home after walking on pavement and stuff. good luck
