personality changes in our silky terrior

we have a 1yr old silky terrior and recently purchased a new puppy same breed , it  has been 2 days but our once fun loving playful terrior now seems depressed despite our trying to give him extra attention and making him first for everything.will he ever come back to the playful happy dog he was

Many dogs resent a new dog.  My jack russell still dislikes foster dogs coming home even though he's been a foster brother for 7 yrs now. We have dogs coming and going all the time.

In general, you should expect that your little man may take as long as a couple of weeks to get used to the idea. Youa re doing the right things in keeping him as the priority since paying more attention to the pup would make him worse.

You may want to up the ante with a few very high value treats.  For instance dogs value cheese above dog biscuits and biscuits above their kibble. I use tiny pieces of cheese that are the size of a pencil eraser. You also can spend extra time with him other than just cuddling him or whatever. I know my dog feels special when we practice the things he's trained to do and he gets cheese.  This makes him much more confident.
