Question
I am very active with my 3 y.o. female airedale.  Whenever we wrestle or I am laying on my back playing with her, she always trys to lick my face.  I don't like it and have repeatedly tried to make her stop.  What is it that makes her want to lick my face, especially my beard?  What is the best way to make her stop without taking away from the fun?
Damon

Answer
Hi Damon,
I don't know what it is but some dogs like the short hairs on your face.  My husband had the same problem with our cocker, except she would chew on it like she was corn cobbing it.  It might be the salts on your face also.
If you don't like it just push her away and say NO.  Nothing wrong in telling your fur kids NO.  If she persists then stop the play when she licks and turn away. Ignore her. Try again playing in a couple minutes.  If she still does repeat. 1. NO 2. Stop play so on and so forth.  She will get it.
One thing is true though you must be consistant.  You can't let her get away with it one time and not the next.  So you have to really not like it to stay constant.

Hope this helps.
