Older Pug barking when phone rings....

Hi,
I own two pugs - a male who is approx. 8 yrs old and a female who is just over a year old. My problem is that when our phone rings my older male starts barking and will NOT stop even when Ive answered and am speaking on the phone. It is very difficult to have a conversation this way and he wont stop. What could be the cause and how can I stop this behavior? He also barks at the door when we are coming/going out. Is it the same reason for both? Thanks for your help!  Kimberly

If this is a problem that has just started, then you may want to have your vet check him out.  Maybe the sound of the phone is bothering him.  
You could try changing the  loudness of the ring.

It will harder to figure out if it behavior.  Again, changing the ring on your phone may help.

The same is true for the door is open and shut.  Try coming in and leaving in a very calm & quiet manner.
