Questionhello, it started about a week and a half ago(11/17/07)- we already had 1 pug already, he is 2- we got the other pug june 07, he is 1- now the new one gives the other one a major stare- the 1 we already have attacks him, but the 1 yr old provokes it,- so my question is How do we teach the new pug that he is not the dominate male? we do have a cage.
AnswerThis is so common and really tough to break. What we do is take the one that is starting the fight, GENTLY but firmly roll him on his back, hold him down and yell NO!!!!. Hold him until he stops struggling. YOU DO NOT WANT TO HURT HIM but you do want to show him who is boss. Hopefully, after a couple of times of this, he will get the message.
I would always keep one of them crated when no one is home to keep them from injuring each other while you are gone.
