seizures

My 9 month pug puppy had a major seizure this morning with wailing, and he died within one minute of the seizure starting.  Any ideas why?  I'm devastated, of course--he was my little guy and was really an adorable, loveable pug.  Thanks...

Sorry to hear about your loss!!!  I know how hard it is to lose a pet.

I think your pug probably died of something called Pug Dog Encephalitis. This is one of the problems that pug can have.  Usually the first seizure will not cause death and then it can be controlled by medications.  Your dog must have had the kind that causes sudden death.

Unless there was something else that caused the seizure, (poison, head injury, Epilepsy, etc.), he most likely died of PDE and there is nothing you could have done.
