poodle tails

I am not sure what your feelings on docking poodle tails and taking of dew claws, so I hope I do not offend you by asking how much of the tail do you dock?  I asked my vet and he said everyone has a different opinion.  My Lucygirl has a very short tail, definitely way to short.  I seem to remember something about the topknot being even with the tail when it is upright.  But, that does not help me know how much to tell my vet to take off.  Also, is it on the second or third day that I take them in to have tails docked and dew claws removed?  Thanks in advance for your help and advice and have a good night.

I'm a docker ;0)  Most people dock the tails way to short as you have mentioned here with your female.  The "correct length" is to take 1/2 of the tail off.  I take mine in on the third day to get tails and due claws off.

Take care and don't over dock the tails!!
