Question
I am confused as to what size a Moyen/Klein poodle is.  The height thing just leaves an awfully lot of room between a Miniature and a Standard.  I'm wondering about what weight a Moyen would come in at.  Thanks, Kim.

Answer
Hello Jan,
I have been dealing with Poodles for over 30 years and have never heard of a Moyen/Klein Poodle.  As far as I know, Poodles come in 3 sizes; Toy Poodles (any Poodle under 10" at the shoulder), Miniature Poodles (any Poodle 11"-15" at the shoulder, and Standard Poodle (any Poodle over 15" at the shoulder).  Some people will call their very small Poodles Teacups or Tinies, or their overly large Std Poodles Royals or Giants, but they aren't "official" sizes according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).

THIS IS INFO THAT I PULLED FROM THE DOG BREED INFO CENTER THAT CAN BE FOUND AT http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/k/kleinpoodle.htm :

Moyen is the French word for the fourth size of the Poodles in France, but the remainder of Europe refers to them as Kleins. Its size falls in-between the Miniature and Standard Poodles, but is not obtained by crossing the two, it is an actual fourth Poodle breed size in Europe and is not a new size. Kleins (Moyen) are very common in the US but because they are small, they are generally placed in pet homes, as they cannot successfully compete in the AKC ring against their larger counterpart, the Standard, due to their size. They however can compete in the UKC conformation venue and many are Champions. Kleins tend to be in the 15-20 inch range and weigh around 30-45lbs, the size of a small Standard Poodle. Moyen means medium in French. Klein means medium in German. Both Moyen and Klein are common names for this in-between Poodle size. They are just a bit smaller than the original sized Poodle.

If you would like more information on the Moyen/Klein Poodles, type Moyen/Klein sized Poodles into your search engine.  I found alot of info about them from the Google search engine.

I hope this helps you some and BTW, you opened my eyes to this new size because I had never heard of them before, Thanks.
