Question
My female lab is 15 months old and has already gone thru 1 heat cycle..When is the best fertile time if I want to breed her?

Answer
I would suggest breeding her when she's 9 months or more, just to insure the babies and her more than likely will be O.K. Take her to a vet every 2 weeks to make sure she's okay. Don't ever breed a female more than 4 times. Don't ever breed her past age 5 either. That would be like a 45 year old having a baby. It puts both the puppies and the mother at risk. Do you have a good stud to breed her to? I can find a perfect dog for you. Don't ever breed a yellow and a chocolate, it causes defects in the puppies, puts them at serious risk, and can even kill them. It also produces...well..."odd" looking puppies. It's OK to breed a yellow with a yellow and a yellow with a black, though. Please get back to me by clicking on: add a follow-up question. Where are you located? I need to know so I can find a good stud dog for your female. Thank you, Cassie
