agression to my older husky.

Question
I have a female husky who is 2 years old and an older female husky who is around 8 years old.  The younger one is constantly being agressive with the older one.  She tries to corner her, growls at her when food is given to them, won't let her up the stairs and last night they got into a fight with the younger one trying to bite the older one in the head/neck area.  I love them both and would never consider getting rid of either, however I do not want either of them to be injured.  Does anyone have suggestions?  Should I ask my vet?

Answer
If you don't step foward as the alpha of the house your new girl will serously hurt your older lady. The younger one thinks defeating the older on is the ticket to ruling YOUR house. You will have to limit this girls privilages. If she isn't kennel trained I would get her trained. Also get a muzzle. When they jump up on the back of the other dog they are trying to break their neck. I would keep the muzzle on for set times of the day when you notice the younger girl is rather moody. Take it off when you know you won't have a problem. Feed the older girl first and wait till the older lady is done feeding before you let the younger one eat. (This would be a good time to leave the muzzle on so if you run interferiance you won't get bit eather) The muzzle is a tool you use so you can correct your dog safely, so if she growles and acts nasty with it on still correct her.
And the crate is so you can sleep knowing that they won't fight, or even run to the store. If you let her sleep in your bed I would disscontinue this at this point. The older dog shouldn't have any changes in her activities.
If you have any more questions please ask.
