Tips on cutting Poms nails

Question
Trish,
My poms nails are really long. Can I cut her nails myself or is this something a Vet needs to do? If so what can you tell me what to do? Thanks

Answer
For the first time I would take the pup into the vet or groomer so you can watch how they do it.  I use guitine style but that is just my preference.  You can very eaily do it yourself. :) Just get some good sharp dog nail clippers, some styptic poweder or gel (in case of bleeding-you just dab this on to stop the bleeding).
You should do it about 2-3 times a month. And depending on the age of your pup the earlier you start the better since they will fight you if they are not used to it.

Best of luck!
