Potty Problems, especially urinating

Question
We just got a 13-month-old bulldog (48-hours-ago)from someone and she is the sweetest thing in the world.  We were told that she was housebroken and crate trained.  She has already surprised us on several occasions with suddenly peeing on the floor, and in the crate when we placed her in that.  She may have tried to warn us one time, but the rest came out of the blue.  She has had one poop accident, the rest of the time she has done her business outside just wonderfully.

At first we considered this as part of the trauma of going to a new home (we also have two cats and she has only paid them scant attention), but after seeing some of the questions you have received, we are beginning to wonder if bulls have bathroom problems, do we need to redo her potty training, or are we making a mountain out of a mole hill?

How much water should she get and when should we pull that? As I said, its only been two days and she is an angel otherwise, but we would like to get this problem corrected.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give us,
John

Answer
You really need to give the dog time to get it's bearings in it's new home. She probably isn't even sure which door is which at this point.

I would keep her crated and take her directly from the crate outside. If she pees and poops, "GOOD DOG!" and then she's allowed house time.  Then back in the crate when you can't be right with her.  Keep this up and allow her longer house time as she improves. It may take a week or a few weeks before she learns the drill.

I would pick up her water around 5 or 6 in the evening depending upon how late you can take her out before going to bed.

Smaller than a mountain, bigger than a mole hill, but not impossible.
