Question
What can I use to keep my bulldog from shedding so bad, I've brushed him daily and used non shed shampoo and some vitamins for shedding and nothing helps. Also bad acner on his chin, i've tried cortisone and antibiotic cream. Thanks!

Answer
The shedding is a nutritional issue. Try a different food for a month and see if it makes a difference. Something not too high in protein but with fairly high fat content.

The chin condition is called pyoderma and is caused by him lying with his chin on the ground, or concrete, or just about anything that irritates it. Clean the area with hydrogen peroxide and dry it very well.  Then put something like Neosporin on it a couple of times a day. You should see some improvement in about a week.

If it progresses to an oozy, smelly mess, he will need antibiotics, probably Cephalexin.  At that point, it's developed into a staph infection.
