Our New Bully Girl Callie! Food question:

19 16:21:24

Question
We just bought an English Bulldog puppy. She's amazing! We've wanted to buy an EBD for SO long! Anyway I came across your postings and everything is very informative! Thank you! I wanted to ask about the food Callie has been eating. You say Puppy Chow is best? The people we bought her from (wonderful honest family with two great champion english bulldogs!) had her eating Purina One Puppy. I have noticed she is a very gassy girl, and I am guessing this is because as you said lamb based food causes that. I know we shouldn't change food now, but when do you recommend doing this if it is to be done? I'm not worried or too bothered by it but want what's best for her. Let me know! Also we are crate training her. Any general tip and tricks for this breed? She's doing great so far, asks to go out with only a few peepee accidents in the house. Thank you for all your great advice and information- it's awful to hear some of those bad situations out there and feel lucky to have a mild tempered beautiful Bully that came from a trust worthy family! -Sara

Answer
Yup, it's the lamb causing the gas. Purina One is fine. I recommend Puppy Chow because it's so readily available in our area and One is sometimes hard to come by. You can change your puppy to a different food but give her a few weeks to settle in to your routine. When you make the change, do it gradually over about a week, slowly replacing small amounts of her regular diet with the new diet until the change over is complete.

If you care to email me directly, I'll send along some training tips.
