im thinking of getting a bulldog

is the temperament of the bulldog good enough to have children around and what is the percent  of children being hurt or killed by these dogs.

To my knowledge, no children have been attacked and killed by AKC Bulldogs, commonly referred to as English Bulldogs. They are generally excellent family dogs.

However, children who aren't supervised with any dog run the risk of injury. Bulldogs have very high tolerance for pain. A child could actually due damage before a Bulldog might react. If your children are good with animals, chances are a Bulldog would be a great pet for you.
